Early yearsJennifer’s love of food started from an early age, helped by growing up on a self-sufficient farm in West Cork, Ireland, where her parents still make Milleens cheese. Possessing a natural curiosity for food and business and how the two are combined, Jennifer’s first entrepreneurial venture saw her collecting eggs from the farm’s chickens to sell to local restaurants.
Jennifer’s desire to immerse herself in the world of food led her to gain an Honours Degree in Food Marketing and Economics from the University of Reading. She then went on to develop several businesses in the food industry while enhancing her own professional experience.
Her extensive background includes working for Neal’s Yard Dairy where she helped establish its brand in Borough Market. She soon progressed onto senior management teams and development roles within Deals Restaurant Group and the Conran Group. Jennifer’s continued studies include nutritional cookery at Le Manoir with Raymond Blanc and cookery school in Thailand.
Professional Achievements & AwardsJennifer is actively involved with advising the government in the House of Lords and has previously acted as a mentor and ambassador for Enterprise at Downing Street. Her status as a business entrepreneur has led to her to be invited to Buckingham Palace and to speak at The London Stock Exchange, the BBC, British Library and various clubs across the world. TV work includes Channel 5 news and Channel 4 Weekend Kitchen with Waitrose.
Throughout her business career Jennifer has won numerous awards such as the Harpers Bazaar Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the BT Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Shell Live Wire Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Jennifer has also judged at the BT Entrepreneur Awards, Shell Live Wire Awards, The British Cheese Awards and the Irish Food Awards.
